Magnetic Sparks
Book About Electricity With An Experimental Kit
A child-friendly book that explains how electricity is made, together with a hands-on kit for building a small generator and discovering how electricity is created in real life.
At the heart of the book is one central idea: a changing magnetic field can generate electricity. Step by step, children learn about atoms, electrons, voltage, current, magnets and coils, until they understand how a real generator works.

Questions parents ask
What age is it for?
It grows with the child — roughly ages 5 to 12. Read it aloud to younger children, or hand it to a curious twelve-year-old to read alone. It starts with the simplest idea and builds to real physics.
What’s in the box?
The illustrated book plus the mini water-wheel generator it’s built around. The book walks you through both the science and the step-by-step assembly.
What will my child learn?
How electricity is really made — not a watered-down version. Atoms → voltage → magnetic fields → and how a changing magnetic field creates electricity (Faraday’s law). Plus a bonus on how lightning forms.
Is experimental kit a toy?
It’s an adult-assembled demonstration kit, not a certified toy. An adult sets it up; your child watches, learns, and sees the LED light up. A hands-on physics demo for the whole family.
Why are the coil and magnet exposed?
So you can actually see how it works. Most ‘kid generators’ hide everything in plastic. We left the copper winding and magnet in full view — the same principle as real power-station generators.
Do we need batteries or tools?
No batteries — that’s the whole point. The kit generates its own electricity from a spinning magnet inside a coil, driven by a little water wheel. Everything you need comes in the box.
